Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has applauded the leadership qualities of the Niger State governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, saying “he is a man who can stabilise Nigeria.”

Okorocha, who gave the assessment at the wedding reception held for the governor’s two daughters in Minna, the Niger State capital, yesterday said the Niger State governor is working for the unity and progress of the country.

According to Okorocha, “We are all here because of one man; Governor Aliyu is a man who can stabilise Nigeria and who is always working for the unity and progress of this country. Nigerians are gathered here today because of the calibre of the person Governor Aliyu is.”

The Imo State governor then called on all Nigerians to join hands in uniting the country in order to build a country that everyone will be proud of. In a similar vein, the Speaker of the House of Reprsentatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, described Aliyu as the pillar of the society.
Tambuwal,  who spoke on behalf of every member of the National Assembly,  described the Niger State governor as “a man of the people” as he congratulated the Aliyu family and those that came for the wedding.

‘Like Governor Okorocha said, the large attendance of people at this ceremony is a clear testimony of the kind of person Governor Aliyu is. You can see so many people from different walks of life are under this roof,” Tambuwal said. The father of the day, Vice President Namadi Sambo, prayed for good life and good family for the newly-wedded couples.  He urged the couples to appreciate the values of the  marriage institution , stressing that if the values are upheld, the marriage will last.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Minna,  Alhaji Abu Fari , joined the couples after receiving the N100,000 dowry for each of the brides from the grooms’ families.

The Vice President received the dowry on behalf of the Aliyu family.
The wedding ceremony was witnessed by prominent Nigerians from all walks of life among whom were the former president, Alhaji Shehu Shagari; governors; traditional rulers; members of the National Assembly; ministers and members of the diplomatic corps.
