The Regional General Manager, South-south/South-east, Port Harcourt International Airport, Mrs. Ebele Okoye, has advised all users of the airport to be safety conscious and pay adequate attention to matters affecting their health at all times.
Okoye gave the advice during the inaugural meeting of the Safety and Health Committee of the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa held recently.
The committee, made up of members drawn from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Port Health and Car Hire operators in the airport was constituted to ensure that the airport is neat at all times.

According to the RGM, the issue of safe and healthy environment should not be relegated to the background, especially as airport users are Nigerians and foreigners alike who desire an environment that is neat and inviting.
She said FAAN was ready to give the committee full support in any area of its operation, adding that the Port Harcourt International Airport placed high premium on proper hygiene, which would ensure that no epidemic is witnessed in the airport.

Speaking at the inauguration, the chairperson of the committee, Dr. Bolanle Olatunji, said the nonchalant attitude of users of the airport with regards to safety, health and hygiene was the reason for setting up of the committee.
She said the airport community should be on the same page with the RGM who she said was out to make the airport an airport of first choice in the country in terms of prompt service delivery, neatness, safety, comfort and security.
