Fresh facts in the Stephen Keshi resignation saga indicates that the ‘Big Boss’ decided to throw in the towel after learning that his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) clearly had no faith in him by opting to buy return tickets for the team as soon at it became clear that they would be meeting the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the quarter finals.

According to sources, as soon as Keshi’s wards, who had been unimpressive in their first three group matches, placed second to set up the Elephants’ showdown, Glass House officials had began making plans to end their stay in South Africa.

Reports had began surfacing then, which were strenuously denied by NFF officials, they the Glass House had even concluded plans to sack the coaching crew had they lost to their West African foes.

Keshi claimed on a radio station, Metro FM, that he heard about the arrangements made by the NFF after the Mali game, but he did not want to dwell on it as it would have affected his team’s preparations for the semi-final clash.

Although Keshi’s resignation letter still has to be discussed by the NFF, sources close to the coach say he is unlikely to change his mind, because he believes that NFF did not trust and respect his tactics as a coach.

The coach did tell a few days before the final, that he would 'pack his bags and leave' if he felt he was not wanted, and it is a surprising turn of events after the coach was highly praised from all quarters.

However, it is yet to be seen if Keshi’s decision to resign will see him not attending the elaborate reception for the victorious team being planned for them by President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon
