Prof. Taoheed Adedoja,

A former Minister of Sports, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, has told PDP members in Oyo State to be more committed to building the party.
Adedoja told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan Saturday that there was nothing more important than for members to do everything possible to make the party stronger.
``I have told many of our members to work hard in building the party so that we will be strong and united for the challenges ahead,’’Adedoja said.

He said the party had achieved remarkable progress in bringing everybody together in the state, adding that the crisis in the party was as a result of its complexity.
``As the largest party in Nigeria and Africa, it will attract more crisis than the rest because it is where the hope is.

``The more people are interested in the party, the more the expectations of some high hopes that cannot be met in terms of individual aspirations and interests.
``The strength of the party then is in its capacity to solve problems within it and I believe we are a strong party that can withstand any crisis,’’ he said.

Speaking on speculations of his governorship aspiration, Adedoja said he was currently concerned with the welfare and future stakes of members and less concerned about contesting an election.

He said that members had continued persuading him to contest the governoship seat, based on his pedigree but that he had told them to make the building of the party paramount in their minds.

`Some have come to me to tell me I am more qualified for the seat and I have told them what was obvious.
``No matter what party you want to contest on its platform, we must first build the party.
``It is when you are strong that you can stand and when you can stand that you can contest. We should be talking of all of us building the party.

``So it should be about the collective will and strength of the party as a party,’’ he said
Adedoja, who declined comments on the Ajimobi administration, added that the assessment of the government could best be done by the people and members of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the state.

``The people and members of their party can best assess the Ajimobi-led administration in the state. I said these because the wisdom of the two sets of people supercede mine,’’ he said.
