The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has said that it was not the intention of the opposition coalition to force the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) into joining the new party, All Progressive Congress.

The party while clarifying  situation under which APGA was included in the membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), saying it was an act of good faith based on available information and prevailing circumstances, rather than a deliberate act to mislead Nigerians or railroad APGA into the merger.

APGA had said in a statement by its Board of Trustees member, Dr. Tim Menakaya that it was never consulted before appending its name in the merger party.
