ACN, CPC, ANPP Boycott Kogi. L.G Elections

The three major oppositions political parties in Kogi state,  the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, The Congress for Progressive Change, CPC and the All Nigerian People Party, ANPP,  has pulled out of the local government elections scheduled for  today, Saturday, Less than 24 hours  to the  scheduled poll.

The opposition parties are boycotting today’s council poll, following allegations of irregularities being perpetrated by the  Kogi State Independent  Electoral Commission KOSIEC  in favour of PDP. This is as the Kogi state police command said they have deployed over 8000 men for the one day exercise.

Addressing press conference in his office, the police commissioner, Mr. Ralph Oparah, warned politicians to strictly obey the stipulated laws,’’ as any deviation would  be met with corresponding force’’. He said that the command was aware of some flashpoints during the election and that adequate security would be provided to forestall any violence.

The boycotting Opposition Parties which comprise of the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN, All Nigeria People’s Party ANPP and  Congress of Progressive Change  CPC  said they  have jointly  withdrawn from participating in the council poll, saying that if they did not participate there will be no result to be  declared.
