Access Bank Plc and Nickelodeon said they have extended their financial literacy campaign by offering primary schools in Nigeria the opportunity to visit ‘Dora the Explorer.’

A statement from the bank said last month, Dora visited five schools across the country to entertain children and teachers, with the aim of encouraging financial literacy among primary school students.

“The initiative follows the success of the Access Bank sponsored December’s Dora Fiesta event in Lagos which was attended by over 4,000 adoring Dora and Boots fans and which resulted in overwhelming demands from kids and parents to have Dora the Explorer visit their schools.

“The campaign, which has been specially designed to teach the principles and value of money to children aged 4-9, is the first financial literacy campaign of its kind to be launched in Nigeria,” the bank said.

On the initiative, Divisional Director, Retail Banking, Access Bank, Mr. Obinna Nwosu, said: “Access Bank is really proud to provide this exciting interaction between Dora and the children. This is particularly so because it will provide an innovative avenue for promoting financial literacy amongst our children because the engagement will explore financial topics in an engaging and age-appropriate way, covering subjects such as: The Value and History of Money, Money Around the World, Earning, Saving, Spending and Sharing.”

Speaking on behalf of Nickelodeon, Alex Okosi, said: “Dora the Explorer’s impact on Nigerian kids, parents and teachers has been phenomenal and we are delighted to partner with Access Bank.”
