Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji

Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji, Monday said the local government elections in the state will hold in January 2013.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report Monday, the governor while briefing journalists on some of the achievements of his administration said it was time to conduct elections for the third tier of the government, adding that the transition system is not perpetual.

“I intend to conduct elections at the local government areas by January next year after due consultation with the Chairman of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC).”

The governor promised that all political parties in the state would be given equal opportunity in the election.
