Three policemen, a passer-by and a robbery suspect Wednesday lost their lives during a gun duel between police operatives and a gang of armed robbers yesterday at the Oshodi area of Lagos State.

According to eyewitness account, the gun duel started in the evening, when the gunmen attempted to escape after robbing a branch of Thermocool office at Eyitayo Street in Oshodi.

It was further learnt that in an attempt to stop them, some of the policemen had opened fire on the fleeing suspects, who in turn replied the policemen, cutting three policemen in the process. While confirming the story, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, a deputy superintendent of police however debunked claims that three policemen were killed.
