A chairmanship aspirant for the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Apapa chapter election, Mr. Femi Anifowose, has given reasons why he has thrown his hat to the ring.

Anifowose declared that his coming into the race was predicated on the desire to bring about positive change, not only in the association, but also in the freight forwarding practice in Apapa port, Lagos.

The aspirant, who is also the Managing Director of Femsons International Agency Limited, spoke in Lagos against the backdrop of his recent unveiling of his campaigns at Apapa port.

He assured listeners that if given the mandate, he would make members of the chapter happy by providing solutions and working harmoniously with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and other relevant government agencies in the port towards tackling all operational bottlenecks they are facing in the course of their business.

“My ambition is purely a desire to satisfy your quest to further place the profession on integrity, purposefulness and trust. I did not just wake up to contest for this position on sheer personal opinion but I was judged and asked by my thinking to call for change, to rejuvenate a new blood, good thinking and good product for excellence”, he said.

The contestant, who called on members of the association to vote massively for him, assured them that he would provide a purposeful leadership that will run an open door administration, be accountable and transparent and evolve a lot of manpower development and welfare programmes, which will include a befitting secretariat and education training/workshop, for the overall benefit of all members.

His words: “I shall commit my resources and energy to provide a purposeful leadership that will push our association to an enviable position that will be the pride of all agents through proactive and pragmatic approaches to all related issues concerning the association.

“I shall be physically accessible to all our members, serve their interest and defend the corporate interest of the association at all times. I have the zeal and energy to serve. There are a lot of operational challenges staring us in the face and I feel challenged. I shall resuscitate the chapter's secretariat and make it flourish again by providing all the necessary amenities that will make it conducive and attractive for usage”, he added.
