The Presidency, saturday noted that President Goodluck Jonathan would is touched by the suffering of flood victims, and would do anything to alleviate their assist them.

The Vice President, Architect Namadi  Sambo stated  this Saturday in Shendam Local government Area of Plateau State during an on-the-spot assessment of areas recently affected by flood in the state, pleading with the victims to make proper use of the fund released to them.

He also confirmed that over ten billion naira has been raised to assist flood victims in the country.
Speaking earlier, the state Governor, Jonah Jang praised the federal government for coming to the aid of the victims in the state.

He also said the sum of 500 hundred million has been released to the state government for onward distribution to the affected communities.
He said  the money  will  be used to rehabilitate victims and  embark on massive dry season farming to void food shortage.

The chairman of Shendam local government area, Mr Kemi Nshem, also called for immediate reconstruction of the six affected bridges in the area.
Those on the entourage of the vice president inxlude the Governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Tanko Almakura, Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochepe and chairman Senate committee on Special Duties.
It could be recalled that flood ravaged the southern part of state recently, leaving scores of persons dead and monumental properties destroyed.
